Growing up in Arizona, I cannot count the times that my mom, Brenda, and I would rush outside to see the beautiful sunset in the sky. She would talk about the different colors and how seamlessly they blended together. We watched the sunrays bounce off the clouds, creating what almost looked like fire in the sky. The “cotton-candy” clouds were always my favorite.
When I was young, I watched my mom use her amazing talent to create beautiful pieces of artwork inspired by Arizona’s landscapes. She was always trying new things and really enjoyed the creative process. Our house was fun, full of color and creativity (my school projects did not disappoint). I had every type of arts and crafts supplies at my fingertips. She encouraged me to try anything and everything! She was and still is the most encouraging person you will ever meet. If I drew a stick figure, you would think I was better than Picasso! She gave me so much confidence to try, learn, and try again.
As I got older, I quickly realized I was no Picasso, and I unfortunately did not inherit any of her artistic talent. However, I did learn to be creative, resourceful, and joyful!
When Brenda started her own business selling hand-painted ornaments in 1997, I was unaware that this would change the trajectory of my life forever. I watched my mom grow her business through unrelenting dedication, passion, and appreciation for 10 years. In 2007, while in college, I asked if I could be her first employee. I took over the business, so she could focus on painting. For 16 years I have dedicated myself to learning business management, art and design, marketing, customer service, and entrepreneurship. I also found a passion for photography and digital arts. We grew her business together for 13 years.
In 2020, we began discussing how to expand our collection and we knew we wanted to capture the authenticity and originality of Brenda’s artwork. After two years of development (and a lot of “trying”), we combined skills to create our own printed ornament collection. In 2022, we officially launched Sunlit Art.
We are dedicated to expanding Brenda’s collection and will continue to apply her artwork to new products, gifts, and souvenirs!
I have a hard time referring to our customers as “customers,” as anyone who connects with the artwork and uses their hard-earned money to purchase our products feels more like a friend. We truly appreciate you and will forever be grateful we can continue fulfilling our passion and joy in this life!

When we first started talking about expanding Brenda's company to include a new line of art, souvenirs and gifts we consulted with my brother, Dustin, who has his BA, MBA, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, and 15+ years in business operations and management. He helped guide us to a new way of thinking about our company and together we created, what we call, our L.I.G.H.T values. I am proud to show you who we are as a company and what we stand for.
